BORROWING POLICIES FOR PARTNER LIBRARIES AND CONSORTIA

Many libraries in the Gettysburg area allow LTSG students to use their resources. A currently valid LTSG ID card must be presented as evidence of affiliation with the Seminary. Remember that we must abide by the rules and regulations of these facilities and that each of us represents LTSG.

The Musselman Library at GETTYSBURG COLLEGE, within walking distance in the borough of Gettysburg, may be used by Seminary students, faculty and staff.  Musselman Library has its own rules for the use of its collection, including the amount and prompt payment of overdue fines. A link to Musselman Library’s catalog is available at http://library.gettysburg.edu/  .

The Library at MOUNT ST. MARY'S UNIVERSITY AND SEMINARY in nearby Emmitsburg, Maryland (8 miles south on Route 15) is also open for LTSGs tudents and faculty to use and borrow from. A link to this university is found at http://www.msmary.edu .

LTSG students and faculty have privileges in the libraries of all member seminaries in the WASHINGTON THEOLOGICAL CONSORTIUM. These schools include but are not limited to the WESLEY THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, VIRGINIA THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY, HOWARD UNIVERSITY DIVINITY SCHOOL, and CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY (see the Consortium Library Directory at http://www.washtheocon.org/libraries.html for a full listing). In ALL cases, a current, valid ID card from LTSG and a VISITING PATRON form--the latter being available at the A.R. Wentz Library circulation desk--must be presented at the visited library for us to receive service.  Please not that we must abide by the individual consortium library's rules and procedures, and that all borrowed materials must be returned directly to the lending library (NOT through the Wentz Library!). The VISITING PATRON form must be updated and presented anew each semester.

Most libraries of the SOUTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA THEOLOGICAL LIBRARY ASSOCIATION (SEPTLA) (http://www.septla.org/pages/home.php) are open to students and faculty of the Gettysburg Seminary. Among SEPTLA institutions are the Lancaster Theological Seminary (Lancaster, PA), New Brunswick Theological Seminary (New Brunswick, NJ), Princeton Seminary (Princeton, NJ), and many other seminaries in the Philadelphia area, including St. Charles Borromeo Seminary and Palmer Theological Seminary. In ALL cases, a current, valid ID card from LTSG and a VISITING PATRON form--available at the A.R. Wentz Library circulation desk--must be presented for service. VISITING PATRON forms must be updated each semester. Each library stipulates its own rules for use, borrowing, and the return of materials by those outside its community.

THE ADAMS COUNTY LIBRARY system will issue short-term library cards to students during their time in Gettysburg. Use of the branch in downtown Gettysburg provides access to children's literature, light fiction, "how-to" books, and other usual public library services.
