After a four year drought, Eric Crump reclaimed the title grand champion in the 12th annual Gettysburg Seminary Croquet Tournament held here May 8th. Student Association president Joe Graumann was a competitive runner-up. The soon to be ex-Dean Steinke was knocked out in the final championship round as was first year seminarian Jay Eckman.

Scores of participants agreed that the 80 degree temps and sunshine was perhaps the best weather ever for the annual event, begun in the 176th year of the seminary's history.

The competition began with the A.R. Wentz antique croquet ball from the 1920's on display to inspire competitive play. And the championship round was played on the 1940's court created by the mid 20th Century Seminary President.

Speculation circulated that Crump has prevailed in nearly half of the 12 tournaments since its beginning in 2002. Following the competition, Crump indicated "I wait in eager anticipation of a future encounter on the field of honor!"

Players were also recognized for being the "best dressed" and  exhibiting superior "spirit of croquet."
