A.R. Wentz Library

The A.R. Wentz Library, serving the oldest of the eight seminaries of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA)  traces its beginnings to the commissioning of Benjamin Kurtz by the Evangelical Lutheran General Synod (of the United States of North America) to go to Europe to solicit contributions of money and books for its new seminary located in Gettysburg. Originally located in the seminary’s main classroom and office building, the Wentz Library was built in 1947 when modern facilities were paramount to the growing seminary.

NEWS FROM YOUR LIBRARY!

Due to the breaches in security at the Seminary over the summer, new monitoring devices have been installed at the A. R. Wentz Library. Keys to the Library will no longer be issued. Instead, the front exterior and interior doors are now on the swipe card system. Access to the library after hours cannot occur until the swipe cards (e.g., your student IDs) have been issued.

When you have received your swipe cards, and if you need access to the library after hours, you may come to the Circulation Desk in the library after Labor Day to read very carefully and sign the Access Policy Form agreeing to abide by all stipulations. Allow at least two business days for your access to the library via the swipe card to take effect. Policies within the library have not changed, and it remains necessary to sign in and out so others know who is here.

Please also remember that such after hours access is a privilege and not a right, and that any violations of the access policy must result in restrictions for the abnegator so that the privilege for others who abide by the agreement can be maintained.
