For over 180 years Gettysburg Seminary has been deeply committed to equipping people to be the best possible leaders in today’s church for the sake of the Gospel. Our students experience a strong connection between the classroom and the real world; over 20 Learning Partners to enrich their world view and education; a caring community that helps nurture growth as both a leader in the church and a child of God and faculty who are invested in students and their learning for the sake of the church; all in a vibrant, innovative setting steeped in history, surrounded by rural and urban neighbors.
Course options for a new understanding of community
Students are called to plenty of other ventures in addition to preparation for public ministry: families, jobs, other ministries, you name it. Gettysburg Seminary continually expands the number and nature of courses we offer, including access to hybrid, intensive and online courses. Learn alongside those next door and those across the country! We are open to new possibilities to help prepare you to be the best possible leader for the church today. Explore a new understanding of community.
In collaboration for the sake of the Gospel, Gettysburg and Luther Seminaries have entered into an agreement where learning can be shared. One benefit of this agreement is that our students are able to take online courses offered by Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Online courses are offered through Luther Seminary in a variety of disciplines:
Children and Youth Ministry
History of Christianity
Online courses offered through Gettysburg Seminary in Spring 2013:
Places of Faith: Ethnography of Religion
Portraits of Mission Strategy
Hybrid courses: a combination of face-to-face time with professors and online learning
Intensive courses: a 1 ½ or 3 credit course offered in a shortened time-span, i.e. a weeklong J-term course.
Online courses: learning that happens solely through an online format with the professor and other online class participants
